Here's a lovely group of 2 vintage Quick Curl dolls from the mid-70's: Quick Curl Kelley and Quick Curl Barbie , and their friend Walk Lively Miss America. These three girlfriends have their. Original dresses, (Miss America also has her fur trimmed robe and scepter), Quick Curl Barbie has her original pink and white checked dress, Quick Curk Kelley has her green and white checked dress, and the original Quick Curl pink hair comb and brush are also included in this lot. Quick Curl Kelley and Walk Lively Miss America. Both have the desirable Steffi head mold used on some of the prettiest dolls. These dolls are hard to find in good condition because of the wire filament in the hair, and the delicate bodies they have. These dolls have all been played with, and they do need some hair care since the wire filament hair used in the Quick Curl dolls has a tendency to get matted or frizzy. So this lot is definitely not for "Mint" collectors, but the dolls will still look pretty in your doll display. This lot is perfect for someone who doesn't mind working with the wire filament hair; I'm sure the dolls can be restyled, but it will require a patient person! I didn't have enough pics to show the hair brush, comb and scepter, but they are included in this sale.
The Quick Curl dolls have fragile bodies that often lose their limbs; these dolls are all intact and fully posable with no stains and hardly any play wear. None of the dolls have green ears, nose nips, or neck tears. Everything in the pics is included in this sale, except for the doll stands. If you have a question that I haven't answered in the description, please ask me. Quick Curl Kelley: Looks quite sweet in her original green/white dress with sheer sleeves.
Her face has perfect face paint with brown eyes, dark brows, nice blush, and rose colored lips. The tip of her nose is a little bit light. Her hair has some frizz at the ends, but it's not too bad, and the upper part of the hair has some shine.
Her hair is on the thin side, but she doesn't have any missing plugs. I did notice she has some short pieces of hair on the sides of her face, more on the right side of her face (right in the pics) than her left. I didn't notice this for awhile, as these shorter pieces do blend in with the longer hair. Her Near Mint body is marked 1966, Made in Taiwan on the right side of her butt.
Her joints are tight and posable, and she doesn't have any stains. I would treat her body with care, as they tend to fall apart at the hip or shoulder joints.
She has 1 tiny tap mark on the back of her left thigh. Her green/white original dress is in Near Mint shape, it's pretty clean, and the white satin collar looks nice. It has 3 light small snags on the left sheer sleeve, but displays very nicely. Walk Lively Miss America: Is an obvious winner with her dark curly hair, gold and white gown with sash, scepter, and red fur-trimmed robe! She still has her silver crown attached to her head.
Her thick dark brunette hair has lots of her original curls that are mostly in the original set. She has a hair strand/curl on the left side of her face that didn't want to lay down, so I put a small bobby pin in it. I think her hair will lay down nicely after you take the bobby pin out. She has the soft regular hair, not the Quick Curl wire filament hair. The curls look pretty good in back.
She has all of her rooted hair eyelashes, and she has pretty electric blue eyes and eyeliner. She has pretty peach blush (her hair covers her blush in the pics), peach/nude lips, and perfect facial make-up. She doesn't have any fading going on. No earring holes or stains. Her body is marked 1967 Taiwan on her lower back. Her body is in Excellent shape+; it doesn't have any stains and the walking mechanism works fine. When you move her legs back and forth, her arms also move, and her head turns from side to side. There are some "indent" lines running down the sides of both of her shins on each leg, below the calf. It looks like the marks are from her legs being held for years in the superstar era type doll stand that grips around both lower shins, see pic #12. She has a couple faint poke marks on both sides of her right ankle, they are hard to see.
Her gown is in pretty good shape; the gold lame top is not very worn, and she still has her Miss American sash attached. The Miss America sash is off white in color and slightly aged looking. The nylon overskirt is dingy and dusty looking with a spot on the right side front of the skirt; you might be able to spot clean it.The spot has only slightly touched the underskirt. There is very little snagging in the nylon overlay on the skirt. The satin underlayer is an off white aged ivory color now. The red robe looks needs a steam and it's spotted fur trim is a little dusty and fuzzy. Her silver scepter is in great shape, with only a tiny bit of paint loss near its handle; it is pictured in the 2nd photo. Quick Curl Barbie: Is a peaches and cream cutie! She has a pretty face with great make-up and nice blush. She doesn't have any fade spots, earring holes, or stains. Her hair needs restyling as she does have frizziness on the ends. She's not missing any hair plugs anywhere, but her hair might need to be parted better.
You can see some of the wire filaments in her hair at the sides; the filaments are a light tan color. Her hair at the sides and back of her head still has some shine. Her body is marked 1966 Made in Taiwan across her butt, and is Near Mint with no stains or poke marks. Her knees bend 3x each, and her arms and legs hold all poses. Her hip joints don't feel "tight" (this type of doll body never has tight hips), but they do hold all poses and are not swingy.
Her original pink dress is Excellent shape; there's some light snagging on the sleeves, and a tiny bit of soil near the bottom of the back waist closure. The dress collar has some yellowing on the left side, but overall it displays well.
Hair Accessories: (not pictured) Original pink brush and comb. I didn't have enough pics to photograph these accessories, but the hair accessories are shown in pic #2.
