Earliest MARYBEL 1958 "The Doll That Gets Well" Original Box "Patent Pending" Madame Alexander. I absolutely love her face, her eyes. And she is made of something vinyl? This is a gorgeous and well-made doll. She has been stored in a way that has preserved her nicely.
Her hair has not been brushed, ever. Someone loved the previous owner of this one enough to make a really fabulous extra outfit for her. On the outside, this pique pinafore with rick-rack and polished cotton dress with matching bloomers looks "store bought". But the inside of it gives it away as homemade. It is b e a u t i f u l l y handmade. Maybe it IS professionally made.. My pricing is based excellent condition, the un-brushed hair, and the addition of the excellent 2nd outfit. I think this doll was made so early that she did not get stamped with the Madame Alexander marking. THIS IS NOT THE REPRODUCTION MARYBEL. Before they'd even patented this fascinating doll. So, 1958 and 15 tall. I found this on the internet. 12, 15, 17 & 22 tall, uses the Kelly face mold, soft vinyl head, fully jointed body including waist, rooted hair, sleep eyes, closed mouth, usually marked. Marybel came in a case with accessories to get well; wore pink satin shortie pajamas, robe and slippers or a wardrobe depending on year made, also plastic crutches, two plastic arm casts and leg casts, gauze bandages, tape, red measles spots, yellow chicken pox spots and sunglasses. I will double check that. There is one bandaid, but no gauze bandages or tape.Please look at all the photos and read everything I've written about the condition and description of this item.
